Stewart T. Mottley was admitted to practice law in Barbados in 2001 after attending the University of the West Indies and King's College London, and brings over two decades of legal expertise to EDM & Co. As the manager of the firm's corporate and commercial practice, he specializes in advising on local and international corporate matters.
Mr. Mottley has experience in commercial financing for real estate developments, including hotels and residential projects. He has also contributed to public infrastructure initiatives such as the Sugar Point Project—a cruise ship terminal designed to separate cruise and cargo commercial activities. His proficiency in drafting, reviewing, and managing commercial contracts, mergers and acquisitions, and third-party license agreements equips clients with the necessary guidance to successfully enter local and regional markets.
In addition to his real estate and commercial work, Mr. Mottley is a skilled litigation attorney with experience before the Supreme Court of Judicature in diverse areas of law, including civil, commercial, and intellectual property litigation with an emphasis on copyright law. His ability to secure substantial damages, injunctive, and ancillary relief for private and commercial clients underscores his commitment to achieving successful outcomes.
Mr. Mottley also has substantial experience in enforcing intellectual property rights on behalf of collective rights societies and currently serves as a director of the Copyright Society of Composers, Authors, & Publishers.
